Viñaza, Cipriano Muñoz y Manzano, Conde de la (1862-1933)

Vida

Cipriano Muñoz y Manzano, conde de la Viñaza, nació en La Habana en 1862. Su padre era un militar destinada a La Habana, donde contrajo matrimonio, que regresó a la metrópoli y, bajo el reinado de Amadeo I (1845-1890, rey de España entre 1871 y 1873), se le concedió el título de Conde de la Viñaza. Realizó sus primeros estudios en Zaragoza y después se licenció en Filosofía y Derecho. En esta época fallecieron sus padres y heredó el título nobiliario. Su casamiento, en 1887, lo emparentó con una noble familia zaragozana. Inició una activa carrera diplomática que le llevó a ocupar diversos cargos en varias embajadas. Colaboró en la Ilustración Católica y se afilió al Partido Liberal-Conservador de Cánovas. Fue diputado, además de senador. En 1895 ocupó el sillón L de la Real Academia Española, y en 1902 la medalla 17 de la Real Academia de la Historia. Murió en Biarritz (Francia) en 1933.
Aparte de publicar obras de Lupercio Leonardo de Argensola (1559-1613), del célebre impresor Bartolomé Gravio o de Grave (¿?-1530-1578-¿?), de Juan de Luna (¿1575?-¿1645?) y de Gonzalo Correas (1571-1631), el Conde de la Viñaza dedicó ensayos a Francisco de Goya (1746-1828), Santa Teresa (1515-1582) y Prudencio (348-410). También fue autor de unas Adiciones al Diccionario histórico de los más ilustres profesores de las bellas artes en España, en cuatro volúmenes y un apéndice (tip. de los Huérfanos, Madrid, 1889-1894), de Juan Agustín Ceán Bermúdez (1749-1829). En el ámbito lingüístico, cabe señalar la Bibliografía española de lenguas indígenas de América (1892) y, sobre todo, la conocida Biblioteca histórica de filología castellana (1893), obra fundamental que sigue siendo una referencia para todos los interesados en los estudios filológicos del español.

The BVFE regurlaly publishes new bibliographical recordsLatest bibliographical records. Our team is constantly searching for new entries. We choose our content meticulously and verify our links regularly.

Several times a month

We add new content several times a month. We gradually add more content to existing entries, and likewise add more categories and subcategories as future needs require reclassification.

Printing the works

The BVFE does not own the intellectual property rights to the entries, it only selects, organizes and indicates the sites where they are located. As such, it is impossible to print the copies from the BVFE. You must agree to the legal conditions of the websites that contain the copies.

Extensions

We are currently devising several extensions for the website. We will gradually integrate upgrades and more functions. The BVFE welcomes any suggestions that our users may have.

Submission of new URLs

Clicking on the + sign located on the dropdown tab at the top of the website Refer a URL or make a suggestion will take you to a form that has a field where you can send a URL address that has not yet been included in the BVFE. It is simple to use: just indicate the URL of the entry and we will do the rest, after completing the corresponding checks.
