Vida
Ángel Pulido nació en Madrid en 1852. Cursó la enseñanza secundaria en las Escuelas Pías de San Antón y en el antiguo Instituto de Noviciado. Posteriormente estudió Medicina en el Colegio de San Carlos (1868-1783) y obtuvo el título de doctor en 1875. En 1874 opositó al cuerpo de Sanidad Militar y de la Armada, aunque dimitió poco después. Fue profesor en la Escuela de Matronas y en la Institución Libre de Enseñanza. Dedicó buena parte de su vida a la administración sanitaria y se interesó por la mejora de la atención médica y la medicina social. En 1884 accedió a la Real Academia Nacional de Medicina como numerario. Participó activamente en la política siendo Senador en las Cortes de la Restauración, Subsecretario de la Gobernación y Vocal del Instituto de Reformas Sociales. Destacó especialmente por ser el iniciador del proceso de reconciliación con los judíos expulsados de España. En el verano de 1903 realizó un viaje por los países del Danubio y entró en contacto con las comunidades sefarditas. A su regresó a España lanzó una campaña filosefardí para promover el acercamiento cultural y económico entre dichas comunidades y España.
Publicó varios artículos al respecto en La Ilustración Española y Americana para defender sus ideas tanto en España como entre las comunidades judías. Fruto de su interés por los sefardíes publicó Españoles sin patria y la raza sefardí (1905). Un año antes vio la luz Los israelitas españoles y el idioma castellano (1904), obra en la que el autor narra los orígenes y el desarrollo de la campaña en pro del acercamiento entre España y los sefardíes expulsados por los Reyes Católicos en 1492. En la primera parte del libro incluye una serie de artículos sobre los israelitas españoles y el idioma castellano. Posteriormente reúne un buen número de cartas, entre ellas la destinada a la Sociedad de Israelitas españoles de Viena, conocida como «La Esperanza», así como cartas de destacados israelitas tales como Juan Valera, Enrique Bejarano o Moisés Fresco. También recoge su discurso en el Senado español y un apartado de Antecedentes diplomáticos en el que menciona una nota sobre la repatriación de los judíos españoles en 1881 además de un capítulo sobre la lengua francesa entre los israelitas de Oriente. Sin duda, un compendio de la campaña a la que dedicó buena parte de su vida puesto que, hasta el final de sus días fue un ferviente defensor del sefardismo.
Falleció en Madrid en 1932.

The browser
Performing a search in the BVFE is very simple. Either write the word or string of words in our browser, search for a specific category, or perform an alphabetical search by choosing a letter.
Advanced filters
In addition, all of our records contain several fields. To search for a specific work by date of publication, filter by copy, printer, place of printing, etc., use the Advanced Search.

New bibliographical records
The BVFE regurlaly publishes new bibliographical records. Our team is constantly searching for new entries. We choose our content meticulously and verify our links regularly.
Several times a month
We add new content several times a month. We gradually add more content to existing entries, and likewise add more categories and subcategories as future needs require reclassification.

Sharing options
You can send any BVFE entry to a friend, partner, researcher or any person interested in history of the Spanish language. To do so, press the button "Recommend" found under each file and send the entry to an email address.

We have also included a sidebar on the left of the screen which can be used to share on social media, select the BVFE as a favourite in your web browser, etc. On tablets and phones the share option will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.

When any category of the BVFE loads, you will see an RSS icon. Clicking on it allows you to join the feed and receive updated information for the category you have subscribed to. Printing bibliographical records
All of the bibliographical records that are in the BVFE can be printed. Click on the "Print" button located below each record. A new window will open with the content of the file ready for printing.
Printing the works
The BVFE does not own the intellectual property rights to the entries, it only selects, organizes and indicates the sites where they are located. As such, it is impossible to print the copies from the BVFE. You must agree to the legal conditions of the websites that contain the copies.

Extensions
We are currently devising several extensions for the website. We will gradually integrate upgrades and more functions. The BVFE welcomes any suggestions that our users may have.
Submission of new URLs
Clicking on the + sign located on the dropdown tab at the top of the website will take you to a form that has a field where you can send a URL address that has not yet been included in the BVFE. It is simple to use: just indicate the URL of the entry and we will do the rest, after completing the corresponding checks.
