Juan María Biec fue un conocido jurista español del siglo XIX. La investigación no maneja ningún dato sobre la peripecia vital de este autor más allá de su consagración al mundo de la jurisprudencia durante los años mediales de la centuria decimonónica, con varios destinos en la administración pública, habiendo llegado a ser ministro del Tribunal Supremo de Justicia. Aunque no hemos logrado averiguar el lugar y la fecha de su nacimiento, es probable que fuera aragonés de Zaragoza, pues el 10 de julio de 1817 debió finalizar estudios economía política en la Real sociedad aragonesa de amigos del país (Gaceta de Madrid, 74, 21 de junio de 1817, págs. 636-637). Sabemos, gracias a noticias periodísticas, que en 1820 era miliciano. Debió nacer, pues, a finales del siglo XVIII, o muy a comienzos del XIX. En 1835 fue nombrado académico de mérito de la Real Academia de Ciencias Eclesiásticas de San Isidoro (Madrid), y en 1837 académico de honor de la Real Academia de Bellas Artes de la Purísima Concepción (Valladolid). En La Correspondencia de España. Diario de noticias del 20 de marzo de 1866, pág. 4e, aparecía la esquela anunciando el fallecimiento de nuestro personaje dos días antes.
Junto con José Vicente y Caravantes (¿1820?-1880) trabajó en la cuarta edición del celebérrimo Diccionario razonado de jurisprudencia de Joaquín Escriche Martín (1784-1847) y, también juntos, publicaron un suplemento de esa obra.

José Vicente y Caravantes fue un jurista y escritor español del siglo XIX. Nuestro autor nació en Zaragoza en una fecha aún por determinar de forma definitiva, aunque la investigación se decanta por 1820. Los datos sobre la infancia de Vicente y Caravantes son escasos. Se sabe que cursó estudios de Humanidades en Valencia, y de Derecho en Madrid y Zaragoza; en su ciudad natal obtuvo finalmente el doctorado en esa disciplina (1843). Instalado en Madrid, y al margen de los vaivenes del siglo XIX español, el aragonés vivió una vida sosegada dedicada al ejercicio del Derecho y a diversas tareas eruditas e investigadoras, hasta el punto de que puede ser considerado como el mejor procesalista español de su época. Vicente y Caravantes murió en la capital en 1880. Ya en el siglo XX, Niceto Alcalá-Zamora (1877-1949), jurista de reconocido prestigio y primer presidente de la II República española, reivindicó su figura; además, en 1922, la Real Academia Española sufragó el traslado de los restos de su cuerpo, junto con los de otros escritores célebres, al cementerio de la Almudena, por considerar que figura tan señera no había recibido unas exequias adecuadas a su categoría.

The browser
Performing a search in the BVFE is very simple. Either write the word or string of words in our browser, search for a specific category, or perform an alphabetical search by choosing a letter.
Advanced filters
In addition, all of our records contain several fields. To search for a specific work by date of publication, filter by copy, printer, place of printing, etc., use the Advanced Search.

New bibliographical records
The BVFE regurlaly publishes new bibliographical records. Our team is constantly searching for new entries. We choose our content meticulously and verify our links regularly.
Several times a month
We add new content several times a month. We gradually add more content to existing entries, and likewise add more categories and subcategories as future needs require reclassification.

Printing bibliographical records
All of the bibliographical records that are in the BVFE can be printed. Click on the "Print" button located below each record. A new window will open with the content of the file ready for printing.
Printing the works
The BVFE does not own the intellectual property rights to the entries, it only selects, organizes and indicates the sites where they are located. As such, it is impossible to print the copies from the BVFE. You must agree to the legal conditions of the websites that contain the copies.

Extensions
We are currently devising several extensions for the website. We will gradually integrate upgrades and more functions. The BVFE welcomes any suggestions that our users may have.
Submission of new URLs
Clicking on the + sign located on the dropdown tab at the top of the website will take you to a form that has a field where you can send a URL address that has not yet been included in the BVFE. It is simple to use: just indicate the URL of the entry and we will do the rest, after completing the corresponding checks.
